Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the concept of giving students tools to grow from learner to leader both in art and life. It is my responsibility to endow them with leadership capabilities and confidence. I work to instill skills students can adapt for use in the classroom, the university, and their community. I believe there are no wrong answers to problems that one may encounter.
The idea of community is very important to my teaching practice. I work to stay current with local and national artistic trends and issues and incorporate this into my classes. I keep students informed of community art happenings such as gallery openings, artist talks, workshops and community related events. I work with students on formal aspects of their art by introducing them to the elements and principles of art, as well as work to foster their growth and build their confidence as artists.
